Bitcoin bursts above $65,000, record high comes into view

Bitcoin surged to its highest level in two years on Monday, surpassing $65,000 fueled by a surge in investment, bringing it close to its previous record. In early European trading, it peaked at $65,537 after already reaching a new two-year high during Asian trading, and currently stands at $65,045, up 4%. Bitcoin's all-time high was recorded at $68,999.99 in November 2021. This year, the leading cryptocurrency has seen a 50% increase, with most of the growth occurring in recent weeks, coinciding with a surge in investments in U.S.-listed bitcoin funds. The approval of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States earlier this year has attracted new major investors, reigniting excitement and momentum similar to the lead-up to the record levels seen in 2021. Markus Thielen, head of research at crypto analytics firm 10x Research in Singapore, noted that investor confidence remains high as the price continues to climb.
